Bruno Cocset

… is a famous Baroque Cellist, founder of Les Basses Réunies, Professor at the National Superior Conservatory of Paris, the Haute Geneva University of Music and the Geneva University of Music where he created the Early Music cello class. After studying at Tours and the Conservatoire de Lyon, Bruno approached more the baroque cello and studied with cellists Anner Bijlsma and Jaap Schroeder, the defining moments of his career being the Gérard Lesne’s Seminario Musicale Masterclasses and Le Concert des Nations and Hespérion XX-XXI with Jordi Savall.

In 1996 he founded Les Basses Réunies and recorded his first CD of A. Vivaldi cello sonatas for the Alpha Records. Bruno has recorded numerous CDs with diverse and significant repertoire of the baroque period, and his latest disc released in 2022 is dedicated to the sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven.

In 2011 he founded the Vannes Early Music Institute in Brittany which together with the European Academy of Early Music in Vannes is organizing workshops on lute music, also being a research centre of repertoire from the Renaissance to the 19th century.
