Richard Myron

Richard Myron, a native of Brooklyn, New York, studied at the Juilliard School under Homer Mensch, earning both his B.Mus and M.Mus, and was awarded the Frederick Zimmermann Memorial Scholarship. His diverse collaborations include Leonard Bernstein, William Christie, Gustav Leonhardt, Giora Feidman, Jaap Schröder, Dizzy Gillespie, and Jordi Savall.

An internationally recognized specialist in historic performance practice, he performs on contrabass and violone and has been a founding member of ensembles such as the Freiburger Barockorchester, Atlantis Ensemble, Il Seminario Musicale, and Les Basses Réunies. He has also performed with leading early music ensembles across Europe and North America.

Currently based in Paris, he is professor of contrabass and chamber music at the CRR de Paris and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, regularly leading orchestral and chamber programs and giving masterclasses in France, Switzerland, Canada, and the U.S.
