Julia Karpeta
Julia Karpeta is a dedicated performer on Baroque instruments, specializing in bass and soprano viola da gamba and violone in G. She is the Founder and member of Duo Fernabucco. In 2019, CD Accord released her solo album featuring music by Marin Marais and Antoine Forqueray. She has participated in numerous recordings and her performances have been broadcast by Mezzo TV and Polish Radio 2.
Julia Karpeta has been invited to major early music festivals, including the International Festival Wratislavia Cantans, Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, BRQ Vantaa Festival, Actus Humanus, MITTO SettembreMusica, Misteria Paschalia, Kromer Festival Biecz, the International Bach Festival in Świdnica, and the Festival International de Santander. She is a recipient of the Young Poland Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
She graduated from the Secondary Music School in Wrocław in the viola da gamba class of Prof. Petr Wagner and continued her studies with Prof. Brent Wissick (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill), Rainer Zipperling (Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne), and Mark Caudle (Academy of Music in Wrocław). She has also participated in masterclasses with Paolo Pandolfo, Wieland Kuijken, and Lucas Peres.
As a member of the Overtone Trio, she specializes in 17th- and 18th-century repertoire. In 2023, the ensemble was invited for a month-long artistic residency in France within the Odyssée Project of the Fondation Les Arts Florissants – William Christie, supported by the French Ministry of Culture.
