Ciprian Cîmpean
Ciprian is currently a member of the Transylvania State Philharmonic and Cello Professor at Sigismund Toduță High School of Music in Cluj-Napoca.
Passionate about baroque music, he became a member of the Transilvania Baroque Ensemble, with whom he made numerous recordings for radio and television. As a baroque cellist, he attended to early music masterclasses of the Académie de Sable with Mira Glodeanu, Bruno Cocset, James Munro and Frederick Haas. In 2014, he graduated the Master’s Degree Programme in early music – baroque cello at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva with Professor Bruno Cocset.
Together with various musicians specialized in early music he performed chamber music concerts in important baroque music festivals from: Istanbul, Nantes, Trieste, Budapest, Cluj, Timisoara, Miercurea Ciuc and Bucharest.
In 2017, he founded the Pur si Simplu Baroque Ensemble which aims to explore the specific repertoire of bass instruments (cello, theorbo, baroque guitar, viola da gamba, harpsichord, organ) of the 17th and 18th centuries.
As soloist, he was invited to perform with the Deep Indigo Ensembles (Paula Erdas, Thomas Boysen, James Munro), the Baroque Orchestra of the Haute École de Musique in Geneva and the Baroque Orchestra of the Early Music Festival in Miercurea Ciuc. At the invitation of Bruno Cocset, together with Erich Türk, he performed a recital in the Early Music Festival Vannes in France.
In 2015, he performed the Cello Concerto in A major by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach with the Balkan Baroque Band at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest.
