Atanas Krastev
Blending a brilliant performing career with a profound commitment to pedagogy, Atanas is a cello professor at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music and the Lyubomir Pipkov National School of Music in Sofia. He also serves as the visionary Artistic Director of the International Cellissimo Festival and Academy in Bulgaria.
His international standing is anchored by top prizes at Jeunesses Musicales and the International Liezen Competition. Among his most notable distinctions, Atanas was honored with the Reina Sofía Chamber Music Prize, presented by Queen Sofía herself, as well as the Young Talents Academy Award, the Golden Muse Award, and the Golden Century Award from the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture.
A versatile soloist and chamber collaborator, he has graced prestigious stages across Europe and South America—including appearances in Austria, Brazil, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Greece, Serbia, and Slovakia—and is a recurring guest at Bulgaria’s premier festivals. A highly respected educator, he regularly conducts international masterclasses, mentoring young cellists in Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, and Ukraine.
