Andrei Stănculescu is one of the most active Romanian conductors of his generation, with an important presence in symphonic, choral, and operatic repertoire. He is conductor of the Chamber Choir Preludiu – Voicu Enăchescu and has served as assistant conductor of the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra (ERT) in Athens, as well as conductor-in-residence of the Sibiu State Philharmonic.

He appears regularly as a guest conductor with major Romanian institutions, including the George Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest, and the philharmonics of Brașov, Craiova, Arad, Pitești, Râmnicu Vâlcea, and Bacău, as well as with the Romanian National Youth Orchestra. In opera, he has conducted productions at the Bucharest National Opera, the Romanian National Opera Iași, the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca, and the Comic Opera for Children, and is Principal Conductor of the Experimental Opera Studio “Ludovic Spiess”.

He made his debut at the Romanian Athenaeum in 2021 with the Romanian National Youth Orchestra and the Preludiu Choir, and participated in the George Enescu International Festival in 2023 (as choral conductor) and 2025 (as orchestral conductor). He is a PhD candidate and associate professor at the National University of Music Bucharest and has pursued advanced training with leading conductors including Cristian Măcelaru, Paavo, Neeme and Kristjan Järvi, Alan Gilbert, and Riccardo Muti.

Since 2018, he has been conductor of St. Joseph’s Cathedral Choir in Bucharest, where he conducted the Papal Mass during the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Romania, receiving the Archbishop’s Cross decoration.
